Simply press down on both sides of the round plastic collet using your fingernails or other hard edge tool and, at the same time, pull the water line (or other connecting part) out. Here’s a YouTube video that illustrates a similar process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKXGyb6Pk7o
Filter Flushing Instructions:
Screw-On Filters KQ8/PW5486
After installing your new filter, ensure the water supply is turned off. Disconnect the tubing from the filter kit’s OUT port that connects to the back of your machine, and place the loose end over a sink or bucket.
Turn the water supply back on and allow water to flow through the new filter, flushing approximately 4 gallons of water (about 5–10 minutes). This process helps remove any harmless carbon fines and prepares the filter for use.
Once flushing is complete, turn the water supply off again. Reconnect the tubing to the back of your machine, then restore the water supply and check all connections for leaks before operating the equipment.
After installing your new inline filter, flush approximately 4 gallons of water (about 5–10 minutes) through the filter before use. This process helps remove any harmless carbon fines and prepares the filter for operation.
For under-sink installations:
Simply run cold water from the connected faucet continuously until approximately 4 gallons of water have passed through the filter. For refrigerators with a water dispenser:
Dispense approximately 4 gallons of water through the refrigerator’s water dispenser into a pitcher or container. Alternatively, you may disconnect the filter outlet tubing from the back of the refrigerator and allow the water to flow directly into a sink or bucket. For ice maker-only installations:
Disconnect the filter outlet tubing from the back of the ice maker and place the loose end over a sink or bucket. Turn on the water supply and allow approximately 4 gallons of water to flow through the filter. Once flushing is complete, turn off the water supply, reconnect the tubing, and restore the water supply. For installations supplying multiple devices using a T-connector:
You may flush the filter by running water through any connected faucet or water dispenser until approximately 4 gallons have passed through the system. Alternatively, you may disconnect the outlet tubing from the connected devices or from the T-connector and allow water to flow directly into a sink or bucket until flushing is complete.
If you are experiencing a leak, first turn off your water supply. Make sure the water line is pushed ALL THE WAY into each adapter fitting. If this doesn’t fix the leak, try removing the piece of line from which the leak is coming from and replacing it with a new piece of water line (making sure to use a proper cutting tool without pinching the line). If this still does not fix the problem, please contact us and we’ll be happy to ship you a replacement part.
NOTE: For filter model KQ8/PW5486 If you notice a leak between the filter housing and the new filter cartridge, the housing may need to be replaced. A common indicator is if the leak occurs with the new filter but not with the previous filter. If you experience this issue, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
If you have a Keurig® B150/K150 or B155/K155, you will need to replace your current water reservoir with a Direct Water Line Plumb Kit tank. If you have a Keurig B150P/K150P, B200, B3000/B3000se, or K3000/K3000se, your brewer’s reservoir is already equipped with a Direct Water Line Plumb Kit, and thus already has the ability to be connected to a water line. You will only need a PureWater Filters® Filter Kit.
Yes! This is completely normal and is an indication that the charcoal that filters the contaminants from your water is being activated. Make sure to flush the filter with at least 4 gallons of water (or until the water runs clear) prior to use.
This filter works best connected to your cold water line. Connecting it to your hot water line may reduce and/or damage the performance of the filter.
We have seen it done, and people do often use copper line with our filters. We recommend you use it with a plastic line, however, as we do not warrant that the filter will work as intended with copper line.
